What we do
For some time already, the research programme has been researching forms of teaching, didactics and education in which technology can be used in a functional and meaningful way. It is precisely the active encounter with other educational or cultural settings that provides knowledge about one’s own design culture and enables other cultures to gain insight into their own values with regard to design. In Tanzania and Zambia, students learn how digital technology can help them use traditional music patterns and sounds in producing contemporary hiphop or trance. This breathes new life into historical cultural values.
The underlying motives here are cultural diversity, increased participation of parties concerned in the creative economy, creative reuse of older cultural material, development of higher education in creative design for diverse cultures, and emancipation of creative design.
