Myrthe van de Giessen appointed as new director HKU Fine Art

“Myrthe van de Giessen is a highly experienced educational manager. She deliberately and eagerly returns to her roots: HKU Fine Arts, where she once graduated cum laude. Myrthe is a powerful connector and her leadership will focus on creating an environment where both staff and art students have the space to maximally develop their talents.

Heleen Jumelet, chair of the Executive Board, is delighted with Myrthe's arrival: “Myrthe is highly motivated to return to the arts. With her rich and broad experience in both educational development and educational policy, she is an asset to our executive team. She is a team player who can safeguard the high quality together with the HKU Fine Arts team, update it, and further intensify cooperation with the professional field and research partners.”

Myrthe van de Giessen: “HKU's ambition to provide excellent art education that has impact on the professional field, people and society, fits seamlessly with my own beliefs about art education. HKU Fine Art is known for the high quality of its education and of the works of graduates and alumni. To further develop and perpetuate this together with the team is a wonderful assignment that I am happy to accept.”
