Bet is planning to design an educational art project for secondary school pupils. With her teaching method, she wants pupils to look at art in a new way that stimulates their creativity. Bet: ‘from a young age on, you learn to think logically. Yet to get towards creative thoughts and ideas, you must learn to think in different ways than you’re used to. The assignments and texts in this educational book help you take on an open mindset towards unusual ideas. For example, what would it look like when it’s raining art? Or if you could see sounds, and feel art? What is the opposite of ‘dancing’?

Improving art education

The jury of the Stimulation Prize was impressed by Bet’s inspiring ideas and convinced that they can make an important contribution to art education at secondary schools. The Fiep Westendorp Prize was introduced in 2007, and handed out to three illustrators twice per year. Its purpose is to give a helping hand to starting illustrators, by offering a financial sum that enables them to realise their remarkable projects.
