Fine Art alumna Bobbi Essers is the new resident of the Air Pastoe programme 2024-2025. From December on, she will settle for six months at HKU Fine Art in the Pastoe Fabriek.

‘Her connection with HKU, combined with her active practice, matches exactly with what we desire from the Air Pastoe programme’, says the teacher’s team of HKU Fine Art.

Bobbi Essers has been storming the art world with her raw and intimate paintings. She graduated at HKU in 2022 and has since then won multiple prizes, among which the Royal Prize for Painting 2023. Last year, her work was displayed in various exhibitions, including Museum More, Central Museum, and across the border at Unit London.

Bobbi is very much looking forward to starting in December: ‘We are currently still busy with composing the programme of activities. Anyhow, I will be present for three days per week and work in my studio among the second-, third-, and fourth-year students. I think it will be nice to be back at HKU and be around all that young energy. I’ve had a fantastic time there as well and I think that students will also enjoy an Artist in Residence who is very approachable and only recently graduated herself.’
