Route

How to get to location Oudenoord?

Bicycle

Location Oudenoord is well situated and easily accessible by bicycle. You can park your bike in the bike store next to the main entrance. The bike store has the same opening hours as the building and is therefore closed at night and at the weekend.

Public transport

From Utrecht Centraal Station take bus line 6 or 7 to the Nijenoord stop, which is a two-minute walk from HKU Oudenoord. For Utrecht's public transport timetables, visit U-OV.

Parking

It is extremely difficult to park in the centre of Utrecht. We therefore advise you to use public transport. You can park in the neighbourhood around the building (you may have to pay). The car park behind the building is for staff only. To see where you can park free of charge, visit the website www.parkerenindestad.nl.

Funfacts

Sustainable Oudenoord!

Location Oudenoord was already reasonably sustainable, but HKU is now working hard on making and keeping the building even more sustainable. To ensure this, modifications are continually being made, for example:
  • we use district heating instead of gas
  • we have a revolving door at the rear of the building to save heat
  • the majority of the lighting is provided by low-energy LED lights
  • we have a collaborative relationship with Returnity: we separate our waste and Returnity uses it as raw materials for new products
  • we reuse as much material as possible

Schools

At Location Oudenoord, you can study at various schools: HKU Media and HKU Art and Economics. The Creative Technology Expertise Centre is also at this location.

  • A good story starts with a good idea. But how do you visualise that idea? And how do reach an audience with it? You can learn that at HKU Media. You create experiences and stories that are valuable to various audience groups in various situations.

  • HKU Art and Economics students are the future. They are both businesslike and creative. You philosophise as an artist but you know how to organise and execute a project. After one of HKU's Art and Economics courses, you are an explorer, a visualiser and a designer of the future.
