On this page, you will find all the information about scheduling an appointment for your practical admission for a program at HKU Utrechts Conservatorium. You will also find practical information and tips.

Scheduling an Appointment

Make sure you read all the steps you need to follow before scheduling an appointment!

  • Click on the 'Plan your exam' button.
  • Log in using the same email address and password that you used to create the UC upload tool.
  • Choose the program and instrument for which you will be doing the practical admission, and click on 'search'.
  • Then, you will see all the available dates and times that you can still choose from.
  • Choose your preferred date and time and click on 'subscribe'.
  • You have now scheduled an appointment, and you should have received a confirmation email at your email address.

Rescheduling an Appointment

You can reschedule your appointment yourself. You can do this by following the steps below:

  • Click on the 'Plan your exam' button.
  • Log in using the same email address and password that you used to create the UC upload tool.
  • You will now see your scheduled appointment.
  • Select 'Unsubscribe', and your appointment will be canceled.
Please note: you will not receive a confirmation email for the cancellation of your appointment. If you want to schedule a different appointment, follow the steps under the heading "Scheduling an Appointment" again.

Forgot Your Password

If you have forgotten your password, select "Forgot my password" when logging in. You will receive instructions on how to create a new password at your email address.

Points of Attention

  • For each admission, you can only schedule one appointment.
  • If you are applying for admission in multiple programs, you must schedule a separate date for each instrument.
  • If you are applying for admission in the Jazz & Pop program and will use HKU Combo, make sure to choose the correct date and time where HKU Combo is available.
Examples times with and without HKU rhytm section:
  • 09:00 WITH HKU-rhytm section = time with an HKU-rhytm section
  • 09:30 NO HKU-rhytm section = time without HKU-rhytm section
Plan your exam

Location and Time of Practical Admission

On the day of the practical admission, report to the Service Desk at Mariaplaats 28 in Utrecht. You will receive the room number at the Service Desk where the exam will be taken and where you can prepare. About 20 minutes in advance you can prepare in a designated room. So make sure that you are present on this day at least half an hour before you have to do your practical admission.

Preparing

About 20 minutes before the start of your practical audition, you can prepare in the room designated by an employee of the Service Desk. It is not possible to prepare outside of these scheduled times.

Additional information practical audition Jazz & Pop

  • The following instruments are present at the practical auditions:
    • Bass amplifier
    • Guitar amplifier
    • A small PA-set with inputs for all relevant electronica
    • Piano (acoustic and / or electric),
    • Drum set - bring your own cymbals, felts, clutch, etc.,
    • Marimba
  • If you use HKU rhytm section, bring sheet music in triplicate.
  • The HKU rythm section always consists of melodic and rhythmic instruments. When you audition for a melodic instrument yourself, the ensemble is supplemented with rhythmic instruments.
  • It is not possible to practice with the HKU rhytm section musicians in advance. They are talented musicians who can play the music you provide directly.

Additional information practical audition Classical and Historical Instruments

  • A pianist is present to accompany you at the practical audition.
  • A harpsichordist is present for the main subjects of historical instruments.
  • You may also bring your own accompanist.
  • Upload a copy of your sheet music no later than 16 March, so that the accompanying musician(s) can become familiar with it. Also bring your printed sheet music with you during your admission.
